Movie Screening: Elliott Erwitt

Screening of the documentary Elliott Erwitt: Silence Sounds Good

"I’m serious about not being serious."

A special screening of Elliott Erwitt: Silence Sounds Good, a documentary that brings us close to the photographer behind some of the most beloved images of our time. The camera follows Erwitt through the streets of New York, into new book projects, and on to Cuba, where he returns for the first time in 50 years.

Director Adriana Lopez Sanfeliu worked closely with Erwitt over several years, shaping the documentary from a deeply personal relationship, not to summarize a career, but to capture the person she knew.

The film is warm, funny, and unexpectedly moving, with Erwitt’s wit and reluctant vulnerability always close at hand.

“There is nothing more definite than ending a career by dying”, Erwitt says in the documentary. After his death in 2023, his words are final, but his photographs continue to live on.
