Aftersun is the first of three film screenings presented by Fotografiska in collaboration with Filmklubben and Jonas Pedersen Hardebrandt. This autumn’s film program explores themes of masculinity, vulnerability, and fatherhood, alongside the exhibition Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger – Are Men OK?.

ABOUT THE FILM

Aftersun follows Calum, a young father who struggles to be present and loving while battling mental health issues. Seen through his daughter Sophie’s memories of their shared holiday, the film offers a quiet reflection on men’s space to show emotion and be vulnerable with their children.

The film is Charlotte Wells’ acclaimed feature debut, earning Paul Mescal an Academy Award nomination for his powerful performance as Calum.
