Artist Talk with Hammarskiöld in focus
A conversation about one of the great photographers of our time on the opening day of A Life in High Days
Hans Hammarskiöld (1925–2012) was born exactly a century ago. As one of Sweden’s most prominent photographers, his career spanned six decades, with exceptional international success. Just in time for the centennial celebration of his birth, the Hans Hammarskiöld – A Life of Highlights exhibition is opening at Fotografiska Stockholm.
On Friday, January 31, we invite you to a conversation about Hans Hammarskiöld - a photographer who shaped Swedish photography for decades. Joining the conversation will be Hans Hammarskiöld Heritage represented by Richard Hammarskiöld and exhibition curators Niclas Östlind and Joakim Geiger. The conversation is moderated by Konstkompaniet's Jenny Danielsson.
“All of Hans’s work is characterized by the desire to experiment and to find new approaches. That he was a person of humor and warmth, who gained the trust of those he portrayed, shines through in everything he did,” says Niclas Östlind, professor of photography and curator of the exhibition together with the art historian Joakim Geiger.
